Good morning child, I’m calling you to meet with me today.
I have so much to teach you and to start you on your way.
Surrounded by your classmates and so many tempting thoughts
Set your mind and build your strength before the battles fought.
Is that you Lord? Is that your voice asking me to still?
My list is long, my studies hard, if I finish soon I will.
I’m pretty sure I’m good right now, the sermon left me full,
So she turned back to her books and pushed away the pull.
Good morning child, I’m calling you to meet with me this morn.
Come abide with me awhile, you’re weary and you’re worn.
Such little hearts depend on you, your day is packed with need,
For you I have refreshing Word on which your soul can feed.
Oh Lord, I’d love to meet with You just as soon as I am able,
But first the wash, the morning chores and breakfast on the table
Clean up spills, playdates here, now baths and off to bed.
The urgent day sailed quickly past without her Bible read.
Good morning child, I’m calling you, come meet alone with Me
My Word will ease your anxious heart, My peace will set you free.
I know your worries and your fears for teens and tangled mess
Take captive thoughts to truth of Christ and cast off all your stress.
Lord I’m sending up a prayer for now, I’ll meet with you real soon
But now I’ve got to get to work, so many deadlines loom.
Then to the gym and errands, plus dinner out tonight;
She had no time for Bible when she planned her day so tight.
Good morning child, I’ve called to you, the years have passed you by
You had such good intentions but this life has left you dry.
Such rich delights awaited you, Glory unsurpassed,
Words of life and grace and truth, of Love so wide and vast.
But though I called, you stayed far off, you carved no time for Me
As daily called another one — relentless enemy.

Lisa,
Your blog never fails to minister to me. May I use the above post at our retreat for the MS girls this weekend? Did you write it? I just want to give credit where it is due.
Love you, my friend. Thank you for allowing the Father to use you.

Beautiful…convicting. Mirrors our discussion in Sunday School, and brought to mind the Harry Chapin song, “Cats in the Cradle”. (Telling my age!) Sorry you were up in the wee hours, but grateful for your words.

Very inspiring.

Me too Patti. And, of course, this morning posting this, my morning took a left turn and I had to de-ter-mine to do my Bible time.
