As I’ve gotten older, I’ve gotten more serious. Life creeps in, with bills to pay, meals to cook and appointments to keep and pretty soon, I can look more like I’m managing a business than growing a family.
Have you heard that kids smile 400 times a day while adults only smile 15? That actually doesn’t appear documented but it must be rooted in at least the perception of truth if folks keep quoting it. Children certainly smile regularly and thrive on smiles in return.
Proverbs 15:13 says ~
A glad heart makes a happy face;
a broken heart crushes the spirit.
And a few verses down, Proverbs 15:30 reads ~
A bright look brings joy to the heart,
and good news gives health to the body.
How has your smiling quotient been? I’m pretty sure those around me could stand to see me smile a lot more.
When I was growing up, my mom hung a poster in our game room. I must have read it a hundred times because I have often found myself reciting the catch phrase. This is what it said:
That poster needs to be hung on my bathroom mirror, on our fridge, on the back of the kids’ bathroom door. (Maybe also in the laundry room and from the dash in my car!) If you’d like to print an
8.5 x 11 copy of the poster (without the blog name), click below on the link for a free printable version.
