Awake O Sleeper
God bids you come
and meet with Him this morn,
Pour out your heart
give Him the struggles
the missing that you mourn.
He knows you grieve
for what’s been lost,
the dreams cut short and shorn,
but new life greets,
new dreams await
whole chapters yet unborn.
Lift up your eyes
Open wide
See goodness all around,
His hand is here
And eyes that see
find lavish gifts abound.
Though wilderness
compels our wait
and walk the barren ground,
He leads with cords of kindness,
His faithful grace surrounds.
Awake O Sleeper
this day may call
for us to do hard things,
We cannot
and we have not —
fear begins to spring.
In desperate lack
we call on One
and claim the strength He brings,
Our utter need
that threatened so?
Cast us upon His wings.

Awake O Sleeper
a new day beckons
for all has not become dead.
Cast off despair,
lay hold of hope
and shake that sense of dread.
Soul, do not miss
the joy that’s here,
the places to be led,
Heart, lean on Him alone,
abundance promised ahead.

Beautiful and welcomed, thank you
So grateful.
Such beautiful words, and such encouragement in each and every line. Thank you and bless you!
Thank you, Anna.
Did you write this?
Yes. 🙂
My heart never needed this more than now. Breathless from grief.
Thank you sweet friend
Carol, that is such an apt description. Praying for you now.
Lisa, what wonderful images you have captured. The lines, ‘ Soul, do not miss, the joy that’s here, the places to be led’ really touched me. When I get discouraged or disillusioned I need to hear HIS voice say, ‘look, don’t miss a thing I have for you’. Satan really tries to put the blinders on doesn’t he? Your post had words of encouragement and engagement, and I thank you. May God continue to bless you, your family and your ministry. Happy Thanksgiving my friend, Jackie
Beautiful!
Awake – pour out your heart (and then) see the goodness all around!! Words that I will carry with me…thanks! This was such a blessing this morning!!
Beautiful <3
Lisa, I didn’t know you could write poetry! Beautiful! You should totally submit this to some places that publish poetry. Beautiful.
Thank you , I lost my dad 5 months ago and his brother (my uncle) passed a week ago. It has been very hard. My relationship with Jesus has carried me. I still have moments of breakdowns , but I have the joy of knowing that one day I will see them again.❤️ This email came straight from the Holy Spirit because I have not subscribed to my rememberance. 🙏🏻🙌🏻
Thank you for sharing!
Beautiful reminder of the daily invitation we have from God!!! Thank you Lisa!
Thank you, Martha. <3
